Cookie Policy

Last updated: 10 August 2026

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners.

2. Our Approach

We only use cookies that are strictly necessary for the Service to function. We do not use cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics — our analytics provider (PostHog) is configured to operate without cookies.

Because we do not use any non-essential cookies, we do not display a cookie consent banner.

3. Strictly Necessary Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies enable core functionality that the Service cannot work without. They do not require your consent under UK GDPR or the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

The following strictly necessary cookies are currently in use or planned:

ProviderCookie namePurposeStatus
Supabasesb-[ref]-auth-tokenStores an encrypted authentication token to keep you signed in as you navigate the Service. The token expires when you sign out or after a period of inactivity.Active
LemonSqueezyVariousSet by LemonSqueezy during the payment checkout process to maintain session state and prevent fraud. These cookies are active only when you interact with the payment flow and are strictly necessary to complete a purchase.Active

4. Cookies We Do Not Use

We do not use:

  • Analytics or performance cookies
  • Advertising or targeting cookies
  • Social media cookies
  • Any third-party tracking cookies

5. Other Storage on Your Device

Alongside cookies, the Service keeps a small amount of information in your browser's local and session storage. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else, and none of it is used for tracking. It exists so the Service can remember a preference you have already expressed.

NamePurpose
sg_session_countCounts how many separate visits you have made, so we do not ask you to add Speak Greek to your home screen during a first visit.
sg_install_last_shownWhen we last asked about adding Speak Greek to your home screen, so we ask at most once a fortnight.
sg_install_dismissalsHow many times you have dismissed that request, so we stop asking after two.
sg_ios_install_reportedRecords that Speak Greek has been opened from your home screen on an iPhone or iPad, so it is counted once rather than on every launch.
sg_session_activeMarks your current visit. Held in session storage and cleared automatically when you close the tab.

You can clear all of these at any time through your browser's "clear site data" controls. Doing so only resets whether we ask about adding Speak Greek to your home screen; it does not affect your account or your progress.

6. Managing Cookies

Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, disabling them through your browser may affect your ability to use core features of the Service such as staying logged in.

You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. For guidance, visit aboutcookies.org.

7. Changes to This Policy

We will update this policy if we introduce new cookies. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
